Common Risks: |

Bleeding, Infection, asymmetry, swelling, loss of skin, loss of umbilicus, blood or fluid collections, wound separation, possible bad scarring
(keloids), nerve injury with loss of sensation, waviness, skin depressions, lumpiness, reaccumulation of fat, injury to deep structures, skin burns or ulceration, sagging of skin,
Phlebitis (blood clots in legs), pulmonary embolus (blood clot in lung), fat emboli (fat deposition in lungs), pulmonary complications, anesthetic problems, increased risks with
multiple procedures, long term effect of Ultrasonic exposure is unknown, need for transfusion

Preop preparations: |

No Smoking for 1 week prior to and 2 week after surgery (may cause skin death and loss)

No antiinflammatory medications for 2 week prior to and after surgery (may cause increased bleeding)

Recovery: |
-
No exercise or strenuous activity for 3 weeks
-
Can usually return to work in 4-5 days
-
Compression dressings necessary for 3 weeks post op
